Human being

The 13th edition of the MIRA Mobile Prize proposed that participants compete with their photographs in six categories: Landscape, Portrait, Minimal, Architecture, Daily Life and Digital Art.

We receive applications from all over the world, addressing issues from very different perspectives. We are very grateful to the jury members who had the difficult task of selecting the best photographs: Andrea Bigiarini (Italy), Giulia Baita (Italy), Gina Costa (USA), Joanne Carter (UK) and Manuel Roberto (Portugal)!

As in previous editions, it is the human that permeates all images regardless of category. This presence is emphasized by the times we live in: the pandemic has brought us awareness that we all belong to the same species affected by a lethal virus. Economic and social conditions have dictated different ways of looking at the disease, but contagion does not distinguish between bodies.

The war we are experiencing, at the time of this edition, brings us suffering and pain due to the irrationality of a fight against life. It is the human who subscribes to the war and peace that is desired. At a time when so many disturbing questions are being asked, it is a privilege to expose and publish this manifesto of humanity, of beauty.

This issue of the MIRA Mobile Prize is dedicated to Jo Sullivan who left us.
