AUGUSTO LEMOS
Augusto Lemos was born and lives in Porto. With a PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, he was a professor at the Escola Superior de Educação of the Polytechnic of Porto between the academic year 1994-1995 and 2021, having worked in the areas of Photography and Heritage.
He exhibits his work regularly for decades, on individual and collective exhibitions. The solo exhibitions of this millennium are:Viagem à Beira Alta (Galeria Imago Lucis, 2001); Cartas Transmontanas (Monastery of Tibães, 2002); Antre Tejo & Odiana (D. Manuel Palace, 2004); Pela Beira (2005); The Vespa: a game of distances and light (Biennial of Vila France de Xira, 2005); Um Porto de Nível (Casa do Infante, 2007); Imagens anunciadas (Portuguese Center of Photography, 2008); 8 hours before (Quase Galeria, 2015; In a connection between Gil Vicente and the Marquês de Pombal (Palace of the Arts, 2015); Bloody Landscapes (Portuguese Photography Center, 2018); O meu Caminho (ESE/IPP, 2020); Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck (Restaurante Terra Nova, 2021); Vamos a la Playa (Casa da Cultura de Avintes, 2022) and I Love My Bicycle (Museum Soares dos Reis, 2022).
He has published articles on the following topics: History of Photography (19th century); Camino de Santiago and Alminhas. He is co-curator of the stenopeic collective “Imagens Periféricas” integrated in Mira Pinhole Photography. He is the author of the photography books “Vamos a la playa”, “The traveler's landscapes” and co-author of “The Sign and the Landscape”. He is represented in numerous publications.
