EARTH: OUR PLANET
What does it mean to inhabit the Earth?
What world is this?
what do we do here?
These are the questions that worry us and make us think about how human beings treat the planet they live on. The proposals of the thousands of mobile photographs that competed for the MIRA Mobile Prize reflect the positive and negative aspects of the way we live in the world.
Originating in the five continents, the photographs in the contest are true manifestos that, in different ways, seek to alert us to the critical period in which we live, in which planet Earth, our home, is in danger: urban congestion, the devastating effects of exploitation of natural resources, garbage, toxic waste, soil degradation and desertification, pollution, etc. In contrast, poetic images show us the harmony of beautiful landscapes, the harmony of coexistence between human beings and the environment they inhabit.… In the vertigo of progress, we don't want these images to become just memories of a lost world.
The 4th edition of the MIRA Mobile Prize is dedicated to Carolyn Hall Young, a great artist in mobile photography, an extraordinary human being who left us too soon.
