The 4th edition of MIRA Mobile Prize is dedicated to Carolyn Hall Young, a great artist of mobile photography, an extraordinary human being who left us too soon.


Earth – our planet

What means to inhabit the Earth? What world is this? What do we do here?

There are many questions that stand in the way how humans treat the planet they live on. We propose that submissions reflect the positive and negative aspects of the way we live in the world, on our planet, such as:

Negative aspects:
– urban congestion
– devastating effects of the exploitation of natural resources
– waste, toxic waste
– endangered living environments/species
– land degradation and desertification
– pollution
– violence

Positive aspects:
– unpolluted landscapes
– human, animal and vegetable life in harmony
– recycling
– green zones/parks in cities
– Humans happily enjoying nature


– Anyone who uses photography in a mobile device (photographs taken and edited with mobile devices), provided they are over eighteen years old.


– Applicants must submit up to three (3) images (black and white or color)

– Photographers are obliged to respect copyright.

– The deadline for submissions is 23:59 on march 10th 2017

There is no registration fee. Free entry.

– To support the exhibition costs (printing, framing, production and communication), each finalist will be asked to pay the fee of 30 euros (33 USD)


– All the photographs must be taken and edited with mobile devices (tablets, smartphones or phones by any operating system)

– Photographs may only be edited using software available on a mobile device;

– It will be only considered submissions that have been sent digitally, in a single e-mail (up to three photographs) to miraprize@espacomira.net

– Only photographs attached in the mail will be considered

– Only images with the following requirements will be evaluated:

  • Format: jpeg
  • Minimum dimension: 640 pixels on the biggest side
  • File Size: larger than 100kb and smaller than 7MB

- It will not be accepted images with the following requests:

  • Images that are embedded on the e-mail
  • Images with boarders, frames and watermarks

– The images selected to the exhibition must be sended with at least 1000 pixels on the larger side

– Subtitle every file with the first and last name, followed by a dash and the number of the photograph.

– Use only alpha numeric characters (Don't use: .:’”/?}{()[ ]+-=*&^ %$#@!.)

– In some cases, participants may be asked to send in the original photograph, so as to ascertain that it was indeed taken and edited on a mobile device

– Confirmation e-mails will be sent to every participant after they have submitted an entry

– The organization does not take responsibility for any traffic issues that may cause this website to be offline

– The submissions won't be returned. Only the winner images will be saved for publicity

– The MIRA Mobile Prize is not responsible for the loss or failure of any submission


– The jury will be formed by 8 members. At first, it will be done a selection of 50 photographs. From that shortlist the winner will be chosen.
The jury’s verdict cannot be contested.


– The participant retains all copyright for their images. Any image used by the MIRA Mobile Prize will be identified by copyright. All the images can be used in publications and publicity regarding the award.


– All 50 photographs shortlisted will be public onmarch 24th on the website www.miramobileprize.com.
– The winner will be announced on march 25th 2017 on the website www.miramobileprize.com.


The winner receives:

1. A two way flight from an european capital to Porto

2. Lodging for 5 nights, 6 days in MIRA FORUM

3. Trip to Picos da Europa ((Fotoadrenalina program) for the portuguese author with the best classified photograph

4. If the winner is Portuguese, he can choose a trip to Companhia das Culturasin Castro Marim, Algarve


– The opening of MIRA Mobile Prize will be at Porto on abril 1st at MIRA FORUM. The photographs chosen as shortlisted by the jury will to be printed and exhibited till march 13th 2017.
